At 2,400 km or more, Lisbon is one of our longest routes, so the drive is the largest part of the price. In Lisbon itself, hills and narrow streets in the historic quarters can mean a smaller vehicle or a longer carry.

The street permit, packing and furniture assembly are added to your offer only if they are needed or booked.

Price example

Example: a studio from Munich to Lisbon

A single person moves a studio of about 8 m³ from Munich to a flat in Campo de Ourique. The truck needs a temporary parking restriction from the city while unloading. This is a worked example based on our starting prices, not a completed customer move.

The city charges a fee for the permit, which comes on top of the moving price.

Permit and access

Street permit, historic quarters and the low-emission zone

Lisbon’s old town is beautiful and hard to reach with a truck. We check your street before we confirm the plan.

Temporary street permit

For a move, the city issues a temporary traffic and parking restriction on request. Apply at least 10 working days and at most one month ahead, with exact dates; a fee applies.

Historic quarters

Alfama, Bairro Alto, Bica and Castelo have restricted vehicle access managed by EMEL, with permits for loading and unloading. Steep, narrow streets there often mean a smaller vehicle and a longer carry.

Low-emission zone (ZER)

In the Avenida and Baixa zone, only vehicles from 2000 on (Euro 3 or better) may drive on working days 07:00–21:00; in the wider zone, vehicles from 1996 on. We plan with a vehicle that meets the rules.

Electronic tolls

Several Portuguese motorways charge tolls electronically only. Foreign vehicles pay through Easytoll, a prepaid Tollcard or a toll device, and we plan the route with that in mind.

Registering in Portugal

EU registration certificate and NIF

EU registration certificate

If you stay longer than three months, register at the Câmara Municipal where you live within 30 days after those first three months.

NIF

Portugal’s tax number is free and needed for most contracts. You get it at a tax office (Serviço de Finanças) by appointment.

No customs

Household goods from Germany need no customs declaration, because Germany and Portugal are both in the EU single market.

Your invoice

You receive an invoice from Smoover that you can use for reimbursement by your employer or for your tax return.

Services

Packing, furniture assembly and practical extras

Pack your own boxes and leave the heavy furniture to the team, or hand over the whole household while you deal with everything else. Each service is agreed and priced in your fixed-price offer.

Packing and unpacking

Full packing, or just the kitchen, books and fragile items. We protect furniture, label boxes by room and can unpack at delivery. Our packing guide helps with what you prepare yourself.

Furniture dismantling and assembly

We dismantle wardrobes, beds and tables before loading and rebuild them in Lisbon. New IKEA furniture can be assembled at the new home too.

Large TVs and valuable pieces

Share screen sizes and photos so we can plan suitable protection. Flag paintings and antiques in advance; see our art transport service.

Temporary storage

If your new home in Lisbon isn’t ready when you have to leave, we store your belongings and deliver later. Storage period and redelivery are agreed in your offer.

Insurance

Every Smoover move is insured through Allianz. Different levels of cover are available depending on the value of your belongings; we explain them before you book.

Leaving your old flat

Where available, add move-out painting and final cleaning for the days after collection, so you can hand back the keys without organising a second company.
