Exact prices depend on volume, access and services. The ranges below are typical for professionally planned moves in Germany and central and western Europe (including VAT):

📦 Boxes, packing materials and consumables

How many moving boxes do you need?

A simple planning rule is:

  • Around 30 boxes per adult
  • Around 10 boxes per child

Small rooms usually need 10 - 15 boxes, medium rooms 15 - 25 boxes and large rooms up to 40 boxes, depending on how much is stored in cupboards and closets.

Boxes should not exceed around 20 kg to allow safe lifting for the moving team. Heavy items such as books or dishes go into small boxes. Light items such as clothes and bedding can go into larger boxes.

Moving blankets protect furniture surfaces from scratches and pressure marks. A simple planning pattern is:

  • 1 bedroom flat: around 12 - 20 m³
  • 2 bedroom flat: around 20 - 35 m³
  • 3 bedroom home: around 35 - 55 m³

These values assume normal furniture density. Very full basements, storage rooms or lots of books can increase the total volume.

Long carry distance

If the truck cannot park close to the entrance, additional walking distance increases working time. A useful planning rule is:

  • For every extra 10 meters of carry, add around 2 - 4 minutes per mover

🛡️ Insurance and protection

All Smoover moves are insured through Allianz. There are several layers of protection that work together to cover typical moving risks.

  • Liability insurance for damage to items.
  • Liability insurance for damage to floors, walls and building surfaces.
  • Optional transport insurance for higher value moves or extra peace of mind.

Transport insurance can be taken out on a current value or new value basis. Coverage is based on the DTV goods insurance conditions 2000/2008 used in the German transport insurance market.

As a rough orientation, the maximum compensation limit per claim is 2,000,000 euro, with defined sub-limits for salvage costs, consequential damages and financial loss. Easily fragile items (glass, porcelain, mirrors, stone slabs, lamps) and art objects have percentage limits relative to the total insured value.
