From northern Germany, Denmark is a short international move: the price is shaped mostly by volume and access, plus the ferry or bridge on the way. From Munich, the longer drive adds cost.

The road-use permit, packing and furniture assembly are added to your offer only if they are needed or booked.

Price example

Example: a 1-bed flat from Hamburg to Copenhagen

A couple moves a 1-bed flat of about 12 m³ from Hamburg to Copenhagen via the Puttgarden–Rødby ferry. The truck is over 3.5 t, so it needs a permit to use the road area while unloading. This is a worked example based on our starting prices, not a completed customer move.

The municipal fee for the road-use permit is small and comes on top of the moving price.

Route and access

Low-emission zones and the road permit

Danish cities regulate older vehicles and the use of road space. We check both addresses before we confirm the plan.

Low-emission zones

Copenhagen, Frederiksberg, Aarhus, Odense and Aalborg have low-emission zones. Older foreign diesel vans and trucks must meet the filter rules and be registered online before entering; we plan with a vehicle that meets them.

Road-use permit in Copenhagen

Vehicles of 3,500 kg or more need a permit to use the road area while loading. Processing takes 10 working days on public roads, and the moving company applies, so we handle it.

Parked cars

If cars are standing in the permitted area on moving day, they are reported to the Copenhagen police using the city’s form.

Leaving Germany

Without private loading space at your old home, a no-parking zone keeps room free for the truck. We apply for it once your date is fixed.

Registering in Denmark

Residence document, CPR number and your car

EU residence document

If you stay longer than three months, apply online before the three months are up. You then appear in person at SIRI or an International Citizen Service centre within 30 days.

CPR number

With the residence document you register for your CPR number, the Danish personal ID number, at a citizen service centre.

Address changes

Once registered, report later address changes no earlier than four weeks before and no later than five days after moving.

Your car

A car with German plates must have Danish plates within 30 days of arrival, and the Danish registration tax applies.

Services

Packing, furniture assembly and practical extras

Pack your own boxes and leave the heavy furniture to the team, or hand over the whole household while you deal with everything else. Each service is agreed and priced in your fixed-price offer.

Packing and unpacking

Full packing, or just the kitchen, books and fragile items. We protect furniture, label boxes by room and can unpack at delivery. Our packing guide helps with what you prepare yourself.

Furniture dismantling and assembly

We dismantle wardrobes, beds and tables before loading and rebuild them in Denmark. New IKEA furniture can be assembled at the new home too.

Large TVs and valuable pieces

Share screen sizes and photos so we can plan suitable protection. Flag paintings and antiques in advance; see our art transport service.

Temporary storage

If your new home in Denmark isn’t ready when you have to leave, we store your belongings and deliver later. Storage period and redelivery are agreed in your offer.

Insurance

Every Smoover move is insured through Allianz. Different levels of cover are available depending on the value of your belongings; we explain them before you book.

Leaving your old flat

Where available, add move-out painting and final cleaning for the days after collection, so you can hand back the keys without organising a second company.
