From southern Germany, Austria is one of the shortest international moves, so access and volume make up most of the price. In Vienna, many older apartment buildings have small lifts, which is worth mentioning in your inventory.
No-parking zones, packing and furniture assembly are added to your offer only if they are needed or booked.
Example: a 2-bed flat from Berlin to Vienna
A family moves a 2-bed flat of about 20 m³ from Berlin to Vienna. The street in Vienna has no free loading space, so the truck needs a short-term no-parking zone from the city. This is a worked example based on our starting prices, not a completed customer move.
The city fees for the no-parking zone come on top of the moving price.
| Distance | about 680 km |
|---|---|
| Home size | 2-bed flat, about 20 m³ |
| Starting price | €2,700 incl. VAT |
| Vienna no-parking zone | city fees: €21, up to €36 for attachments, €60 admin fee |
| Time on the road | one to two days |
Your price depends on your own inventory, access and services.

No-parking zones in Vienna and Salzburg
Space for the truck in front of your door makes loading faster and safer. We check both addresses before we confirm the plan.
Vienna: short-term no-parking zone
The city department MA 46 issues it. Apply at least 10 working days ahead; it covers the loading times and lasts at most one week.
Vienna: signs and fees
The signs must be up at least 24 hours before the zone starts and confirmed by the local police station. City fees: €21, up to €36 for attachments and a €60 admin fee.
Salzburg
In Salzburg, the city’s traffic office handles permits for moving vehicles. We contact it once your date is fixed and confirm what is needed for your street.
Leaving Germany
Without private loading space at your old home, a no-parking zone keeps room free for the truck. Lead times depend on the city; Munich needs about two weeks.
Meldezettel, registration certificate and your car
Meldezettel within 3 days
Register your new address with the registration office within three days of moving in. Late registration can be fined.
Registration certificate
If you stay longer than three months, apply for the Anmeldebescheinigung within four months of arriving. In Vienna this is MA 35; the fee is €44.
Your car
A car with German plates may be used for one month after you move your main residence, then it needs Austrian registration and the NoVA tax is due.
No customs
Household goods from Germany need no customs declaration, because Germany and Austria are both in the EU single market.
Packing, furniture assembly and practical extras
Pack your own boxes and leave the heavy furniture to the team, or hand over the whole household while you deal with everything else. Each service is agreed and priced in your fixed-price offer.
Packing and unpacking
Full packing, or just the kitchen, books and fragile items. We protect furniture, label boxes by room and can unpack at delivery. Our packing guide helps with what you prepare yourself.
Furniture dismantling and assembly
We dismantle wardrobes, beds and tables before loading and rebuild them in Austria. New IKEA furniture can be assembled at the new home too.
Large TVs and valuable pieces
Share screen sizes and photos so we can plan suitable protection. Flag paintings and antiques in advance; see our art transport service.
Temporary storage
If your new home in Austria isn’t ready when you have to leave, we store your belongings and deliver later. Storage period and redelivery are agreed in your offer.
Insurance
Every Smoover move is insured through Allianz. Different levels of cover are available depending on the value of your belongings; we explain them before you book.
Leaving your old flat
Where available, add move-out painting and final cleaning for the days after collection, so you can hand back the keys without organising a second company.
